PMI Jakarta - Polda Metro Jaya Hold Convalescent Plasma Donation

PMI Jakarta collaborate with Polda Metro Jaya to hold convalescent plasma donation.

After receiving convalescent blood plasma transfusion, the cure rate of people who exposed to COVID-19 is quite high.

Tens police officers who survived from COVID-19 donated their convalescent blood plasma through PMI Jakarta.

PMI Jakarta Chairperson, Rustam Effendi welcomed the convalescent plasma donation carried out by tens police officers as the COVID-19 survivors to help residents who were still exposed to COVID-19.

"Convalescent blood plasma transfusion is very needed, at least around 50-60 people a day, but there are only few donors. Through this humanitarian action, we hope COVID-19 survivors will not hesitate to donate their convalescent blood plasma through PMI Jakarta," he conveyed, Saturday (2/6).

COVID-19 survivors who will donate convalescent blood plasma have to go through medical examination process by medical team.

"There are requirements for COVID-19 survivors who want to donate convalescent blood plasma, where their maximum age is 60 years old, have minimum weight of 55 kilograms, and maximum 3 months after they have been declared cured or negative," he explained.

After receiving convalescent blood plasma transfusion, the cure rate of people who exposed to COVID-19 is quite high.

"Alhamdulilah, people with serious COVID-19 cases have recovered after receiving convalescent blood plasma," he added.

Therefore, he encourage COVID-19 survivors to donate their convalescent blood plasma to help COVID-19 patients.

"PMI doesn't have convalescent blood plasma stock. Thus we encourage COVID-19 survivors to donate and help the others," he mentioned.

Meanwhile, Polda Metro Jaya Deputy Chief, Brigjen Hendro Pandowo added, convalescent blood plasma donation was carried out as a part of humanitarian action to break the chain of COVID-19 transmission.

"As many as 21 police officers who are the COVID-19 survivors donate their convalescent blood plasma to help COVID-19 patients who are still being treated in hospitals. We also have a Resilient Urban Village program and others to reduce COVID-19 spread," he asserted.
